Bright and early on November 2nd, the ranch buzzes with anticipation as guests gather for a hearty breakfast to prepare for an exciting day ahead. Once everyone is fueled up, it’s time to get creative! Guests can paint their faces in the traditional calavera (sugar skull) style, adding a festive touch to the celebration.
Next, we meet by the horses, and together, we adorn them with radiant marigold garlands. These bright orange flowers, known as the flower of the dead, are believed to help guide the spirits of loved ones back to their altars with their bold color and distinctive fragrance.
With everyone ready, we set off on an all-day cabalgata (ride), making our way through charming villages, scenic trails, and colorful cemeteries. Along the way, locals pause to watch, wave, and take photos of our colorful procession. The joyful atmosphere, combined with the solemn beauty of the cemeteries, creates a truly moving experience.
